Operation in Villa Tapia: Truck transporting 44 Haitian citizens detained
In a recent intervention carried out by National Police agents in the Hermanas Mirabal province, a cargo vehicle transporting 44 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status was intercepted. The operation took place on the main street of the Toro Cenizo community, belonging to the Villa Tapia municipality.
Authorities reported that the unit, a white truck, was identified during preventive patrol work in the area. Upon detecting the police presence, the driver, identified as Linsandro Rafael Holguín Hernández, attempted to abandon the vehicle in a failed attempt to evade law enforcement officers.
Legal actions following the arrest
- The driver was taken into immediate custody after attempting to flee the scene.
- The 44 foreign citizens were detained to verify their immigration status.
- Both the detained individual and the group of people were transported to the corresponding facilities for due legal process.
The competent authorities have taken over the case to proceed in accordance with the immigration laws in force in the national territory.
