Spider-Man’s iconic “Clone Saga” could be coming to live-action

The Spider-Man universe continues to expand on the small screen. According to recent reports, a series based on the famous “Clone Saga” from the comics is in advanced stages of development for Prime Video, with the goal of bringing Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker to the center of a new live-action narrative.

The project would feature the creative vision of Kelvin Yu, recognized for his work on “American Born Chinese,” who would take on screenwriting and executive production responsibilities. This production is part of the strategic agreement between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television, focused on exploiting the catalog of Marvel characters whose audiovisual rights belong to Sony.

Plot and character details

The narrative would focus on the second arc of the saga, exploring the complex relationship of the clones with Peter Parker. The protagonists, Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, are fundamental figures in this story:

  • Ben Reilly: Genetic clone of Peter Parker who adopts his own heroic identity as Scarlet Spider, honoring the names of his father figures.
  • Kaine Parker: Another clone of Peter, marked by physical and psychological differences that distinguish him from Reilly and give him a unique personality in the plot.

The series would follow both characters as they face the discovery of their origin and encounter other clones, among which Spidercide stands out, one of the most remembered antagonists of this editorial cycle.

The Clone Saga is remembered for its plot twists, including the moment it was questioned who the real Peter Parker was, a revelation that marked a turning point for comic book fans.

Production and context

This new creative effort will feature the participation of key figures such as Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, who have previously collaborated on projects linked to the spider-hero. Although the series is expected to have its initial premiere on the MGM+ platform before arriving on Prime Video, details regarding the cast, filming dates, or release schedule have not yet been confirmed.

At the moment, neither Amazon MGM Studios nor Sony Pictures have issued official statements confirming the final status of the production, keeping fans in suspense regarding this ambitious project that promises to delve into one of the most controversial and fascinating arcs in Spider-Man’s history.
