SICPA reinforces its global commitment to sustainability and technological innovation in its 2025 report
The Swiss multinational SICPA, recognized globally for its advanced solutions in traceability, authentication, and secure identification, has officially presented its 2025 Sustainability Report. This document details the progress achieved in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters through its operations in 36 locations distributed across 27 countries.
The report, prepared under the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, highlights the company’s ambitious roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality across its entire value chain by 2050, with significant intermediate decarbonization milestones projected for 2035.
Advances in carbon footprint reduction
In the last year, SICPA has managed to reduce its corporate carbon footprint to 113,582 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, maintaining a downward trend compared to records from previous years. Among the most notable operational achievements are:
- A 29% decrease in emission intensity from outbound and intercompany transportation.
- Optimization of energy consumption, which currently accounts for 54% of the company’s total usage.
- Expansion of photovoltaic capacity at strategic sites such as Indonesia and Mexico.
- Acquisition of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) to strengthen its operations in Brazil.
Integrating sustainability with cutting-edge technology allows governments to protect their vital assets and strengthen trust in public institutions, ensuring efficient tax collection and greater security in strategic areas.
Social commitment and corporate governance
Beyond its climate goals, the company has prioritized the well-being of its human capital. Through the implementation of systems certified under the ISO 45001 standard, SICPA has promoted an environment of zero workplace accidents, while simultaneously fostering equity and diversity. Its commitment to transparency extends to its supply chain, rigorously evaluating the ESG maturity of its international suppliers through specialized platforms.
These actions consolidate SICPA’s position as a benchmark in corporate ethics and responsibility, supporting its Communication on Progress to the UN Global Compact and the standards of the International Currency Association.
Technology at the service of national sovereignty
With more than a century of history, SICPA continues to be a strategic partner for governments. In the Dominican Republic, the multinational is the technology provider for the traceability and fiscal control system for alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, managed by the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII). Its solutions combine data science and security materials to offer real-time information, protecting the digital sovereignty and resources of nations.
