Toros del Este shut out the Gigantes and return to the winning path

In a day filled with mound dominance and timely offense, the Toros del Este achieved a resounding 6-0 victory over the Gigantes del Cibao in the match held this Wednesday at the Francisco A. Micheli Stadium. With this result, the team from La Romana puts an end to a negative streak of four consecutive losses and positions itself once again in the fight for the top spots in the standings of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

Absolute dominance from the mound

The key to the bullfighting success was the combined pitching, which completely handcuffed the San Francisco de Macorís offense, limiting them to a lone hit throughout the entire game. Starter Noah Skirrow began the work with three scoreless innings, while the bullpen took charge of completing the shutout with seven innings of just one hit and eight strikeouts.

The Toros’ pitching staff shined by retiring 11 batters via strikeout, thus securing their first shutout of the 2024-2025 campaign.

The victory was credited to Johan Simón, who worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts. For his part, Jackson Goddard took the loss after allowing three runs in two and two-thirds innings of work.

Ronny Simón leads the Bulls’ offense

Offensively, Ronny Simón was the star of the game, going 3-for-5 and standing out with his second home run of the season. His contribution, added to the RBIs from Jesús Sánchez, Pedro Severino, and Juan Brito, allowed the Toros to take the lead from the very first inning.

  • Ronny Simón: 5-3, 1 home run, 1 RBI, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.
  • Jesús Sánchez: 3-1, 1 double, 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
  • Gilberto Celestino: 3-2, 2 stolen bases and 1 run scored.
  • Deyvinson de los Santos: The only one responsible for the hit for the Gigantes.

With this result, both teams now share a 4-5 record in the standings, maintaining parity at the fourth spot. The Toros del Este are now preparing for their next commitment, where they will visit the Tigres del Licey this Thursday at the Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal, starting at 7:30 p.m.
