Police operation in La Romana for alleged millionaire fraud at a currency exchange house

The judicial and police authorities of La Romana executed a raid this Tuesday on the facilities of Casa de Cambio Rodríguez, following multiple complaints from citizens who claim to have been victims of financial fraud. The operation arises in response to a series of lawsuits filed by clients who handed over large sums of money for currency transactions that never materialized.

Research details

One of the cases that has caught the attention of the authorities is that of Juan Alberto Bórquez, who claims to have handed over the sum of 7.5 million Dominican pesos with the goal of acquiring more than 118 thousand dollars. According to the complainant, to date he has received neither the foreign currency nor the reimbursement of his capital.

The legal actions seek to clarify the destination of the funds and determine criminal liabilities regarding the fraud allegations affecting various clients of the entity.

Involved in the case

The investigation focuses specifically on the firm Agente de Cambio Rodríguez Reyes, S.A. According to the records, the entity is under the direction of the following individuals:

  • Alejandro Rodríguez Reyes, president of the entity.
  • Alex Ernesto Rodríguez Rondón, vice president of the company.

Following this deployment, it is anticipated that the Public Prosecutor’s Office will proceed to request coercive measures against the executives involved. For their part, those affected have expressed their firm intention for the judicial process to proceed to its ultimate consequences in order to achieve the recovery of their financial resources and ensure that the incident does not go unpunished.

It is expected that in the coming hours the competent authorities will offer a detailed report on the findings collected during the raid and the steps to follow within the current legal framework.
