Government reinforces Roadside Assistance with 300 new units and the unique number 511
The Dominican government has taken a significant step in optimizing safety and support for drivers on the country’s roads. During the second installment of the Weekly Agenda, a space dedicated to showcasing infrastructure progress, the incorporation of more than 300 specialized units aimed at strengthening the roadside assistance service was announced.
This operational expansion aims primarily to ensure an efficient response to any eventuality faced by citizens while traveling along the main roads of the Dominican Republic, maintaining uninterrupted operations 24 hours a day.
Duplicated capacity and national technology
The strengthening strategy stands out not only for the volume of the new equipment, but also for its origin. Among the units integrated into the service are security patrols, mobile workshops for mechanical assistance, and high-tech ambulances, which were assembled by the country’s military industry.
- Capacity: The installed capacity of the roadside assistance service has been doubled.
- Continuous support: Implementation of a modern call center with three rotating shifts.
- Ease of contact: Activation of the unique 511 number to report emergencies in real time.
The implementation of these improvements seeks to transform the driver’s experience on national roads, ensuring that every citizen has the necessary support in the face of any technical or health-related issue on public roads.
According to the details shared by the authorities, the investment required for this robust initiative came from a surplus in tax collections during the year 2025, which exceeded initial budget projections, thus allowing for the allocation of additional resources toward improving service infrastructure for the well-being of the citizenry.
