Critical details revealed about the Amazon Air plane crash in Miami
A recent preliminary report issued by federal transportation authorities has shed light on the causes of the tragic accident that occurred last September at Miami International Airport, where an Amazon Air cargo plane lost control and resulted in the death of five citizens of Cuban origin.
The technical document details that the aircraft, a Boeing 767-300, was flying over the runway at a speed of 327 kilometers per hour when it was at a height of just 32 meters. Seconds later, the aircraft touched down more than a kilometer from the runway threshold, moving at a speed of 296 kilometers per hour before veering off the paved surface.
Communication failures and weather conditions
One of the most significant findings of the report indicates that the pilots did not receive the relevant warnings regarding weather conditions. Although the south control tower had issued prior alerts about strong winds and significant gusts to other aircraft, this information was not transmitted to flight 7598.
The control tower issued landing clearance to flight 7598 without providing data on wind speed and direction, even though protocols require this communication when tailwind components exist.
Impact and legal consequences
After veering off the runway, the aircraft collided with a pickup truck carrying seven cleaning workers. The tragic event claimed the lives of five men: Yoel Rodríguez Naranjo, Julio C. Pineda, Carlos Acosta Fajardo, Javierkys Reyes Quevedo, and Rolando Alemán León.
Currently, the incident is the subject of various lawsuits filed by the families of the deceased and survivors. The legal actions argue operational negligence, errors in crew training, and question the maintenance status of the aircraft, which was 32 years old.
- Amazon has decided to suspend its business relationship with 21 Air, the cargo airline responsible for operating the flight.
- The competent authorities have emphasized that this report is preliminary in nature and that the investigation remains open to clarify all contributing factors to the incident.
