Relatives demand justice for the death of a young woman run over in Santiago
The community of Don Pedro, in Santiago, remains on edge following the demand for justice by the relatives of Rosanna Carolina Lizardo, a 28-year-old young woman who lost her life on August 10, 2025. The tragic event occurred when the victim was struck by a motorcycle driver who was performing reckless maneuvers on a public road.
More than a year after the incident, the relatives of the deceased have expressed their deep indignation at what they consider a paralysis in the judicial system. As they reported, they have gone repeatedly to the Prosecutor’s Office of Licey al Medio seeking answers about the legal process against the person responsible, without obtaining a satisfactory resolution to date.

A case marked by impunity and family tragedy
According to the testimony of Rosaura Altagracia Lizardo, her sister was following her daily routine after returning from her workday when she decided to go out to get food, at which point the fatal accident occurred. The young woman’s grandmother, Sunillda Antonia Díaz, has also raised her voice, recalling that the fatal outcome occurred around 9:00 at night.
The family’s pain is sharpened when considering the collateral consequences of this event:
- The irreparable loss of a young mother.
- Four children who have been left orphaned.
- The frustration regarding the freedom of the alleged perpetrator, who has not faced decisive judicial measures.
Rosanna Carolina Lizardo’s relatives have warned that they will not cease in their struggle. They assert that they will continue to appear before the competent authorities until the circumstances of the incident are clarified and the full weight of the law is applied against the driver involved, putting an end to the uncertainty that has marked their family over the last few months.
