Pelegrín Castillo announces legal and legislative actions regarding the Haitian crisis
The president of the National Progressive Force (FNP), Pelegrín Castillo Semán, reported that the political organization is preparing to execute a series of strategic measures next week, focused on addressing the complex crisis that Haiti is going through and its direct impact on the Dominican Republic.
Among the plans announced by the leader, the formal presentation of a Popular Legislative Initiative and a Citizen Petition stands out. These actions seek to elevate the debate on national security and the country’s sovereignty, urging that these crucial issues be kept outside of electoral agendas and differences between political parties.

The proposal, titled under the slogan “Dominicans, Let’s Face the Haitian Invasion and Occupation,” is based on the nation’s current legal framework. As Castillo specified, the legal basis for this movement is supported by numerals 3, 4, and 5 of article 22 of the Dominican Constitution, which guarantee citizenship rights and the active participation of the people in matters of public interest.
The country is going through a moment that demands that debates related to sovereignty, national security, and the situation in Haiti transcend partisan and electoral differences.

Actions at the Attorney General’s Office
In addition to legislative efforts, the National Progressive Force has considered the possibility of filing a formal complaint with the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic. The objective of this measure would be to point out Amnesty International and other actors involved in the current context, although the organization has preferred to keep the specific details regarding the legal grounds for this action confidential until its official presentation.
