Leones del Escogido begin the path toward a three-peat
The Leones del Escogido organization has made official the start of their training sessions ahead of the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League. The two-time national champions will meet this Friday, October 25, at the New York Yankees academy facilities, located in Boca Chica, to begin their tactical and physical preparation.
The coaching staff, led by championship manager Ramón Santiago, has the responsibility of guiding the scarlet team in the pursuit of a new title. Santiago will be supported by an experienced work team, consisting of Ronny Paulino as bench coach, Hatuey Mendoza in the role of pitching coach, and Jorge Mejía as hitting instructor.
A top-tier technical team
In addition to the senior coaching staff, the preparation structure will feature the participation of other key instructors who will seek to enhance the players’ performance on the field:
- Guadalupe Jabalera
- Edwin Beard
- Roberto Girón
- Pedro López
- Eddy Ramos
The call is directed to all members of the club’s native reserve. Practices are scheduled to formally begin at 9:00 in the morning, extending for a period of two hours daily under an intensive work scheme.
El Escogido hopes to count on the names that helped the team in the last tournament to capture its 18th crown, as well as young talents who will receive the opportunity to contribute to the red cause.

With the goal of maintaining the dominance demonstrated in the last campaign, the red management has focused its efforts on integrating both the veterans who were fundamental pieces in achieving the 18th championship, and the new prospects looking to establish themselves in Dominican winter baseball.
The official debut of the two-time champions on the league calendar is set for Friday, October 16. The Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium will be the stage where the Leones del Escogido will host the Tigres del Licey, marking the start of a season in which the team will seek to consolidate its legacy in local baseball.
