Los Leones del Escogido begin the path toward the three-peat

Everything is ready for the two-time national champions, Leones del Escogido, to begin their official training sessions ahead of the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League. The event is scheduled for this Friday, October 25, taking place at the New York Yankees academy, located in Boca Chica.

A luxury coaching staff

The preparation of the Lions will be under the direction of champion manager Ramón Santiago, who will lead the coaching staff with the goal of maintaining the team’s hegemony. Santiago will have the support of an experienced group of coaches:

  • Ronny Paulino, bench coach.
  • Hatuey Mendoza, pitching coach.
  • Jorge Mejía, hitting instructor.
  • Guadalupe Jabalera, Edwin Beard, Roberto Girón, Pedro López and Eddy Ramos, who complete the coaching staff.

The call, aimed at all members of the native reserve, is scheduled for 9:00 in the morning, initiating a cycle of intensive two-hour daily practice sessions to get the entire staff up to speed.

The team has high expectations for the start of this preseason, combining the veteran experience of the players who achieved the 18th crown with the emerging talent looking to establish themselves in the league.

Calendar and expectations

The scarlet team prepares with the firm purpose of defending their title and continuing to add successes to their history. The two-time champions’ debut in the tournament is set for Friday, October 16th, at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, where they will face the Tigres del Licey in a matchup that promises to be a spectacle from day one.
