Keiko Fujimori promotes measures to expedite the expulsion of irregular migrants linked to crime
The President of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, has ratified her intention to request special legislative powers from Congress to extend the detention period for migrants in an irregular situation. The main objective of this measure is to ensure that authorities have sufficient time to complete the necessary legal procedures before proceeding with their expulsion from the national territory.
During a recent interview, Fujimori explained that this initiative is fundamental to confront individuals allegedly linked to transnational criminal organizations. According to the president, extending detention periods will allow for the execution of a more effective migration policy, ensuring that the process of return to their countries of origin, mainly Venezuela, is carried out under the corresponding legal frameworks.
Strategic alliance with the United States against organized crime
In the context of a recent meeting with the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, the Peruvian head of state confirmed Peru’s accession to the Shield of the Americas. This regional coalition, focused on combating organized crime, seeks to coordinate intelligence and security efforts among various nations on the continent.
There is organized international crime and therefore we countries must also ally ourselves to confront them. Criminals do not respect borders, but with the entry of the Shield of the Americas we will know perfectly well where they are.

Fujimori highlighted that this integration represents a significant step forward for the country’s internal security. The president projects that, through the combination of a better-equipped National Police, a strengthened judicial system, and the exchange of information provided by the initiative, it will be possible to capture the leaders of criminal gangs in the coming months.

Given the urgency of the situation, the president urged the Legislative Branch to prioritize the debate on the powers requested regarding citizen security and migration control. Fujimori emphasized that the population demands quick and forceful responses to the advance of organized crime, underlining that her administration is focused on making decisive decisions to restore order and tranquility in the country.
