Juma Bejucal begins construction of key works for local development
The Municipal District Board of Juma Bejucal, led by its district director, Teodoro Santos Paulino, formally announced the start of a series of infrastructure works that will positively impact the quality of life of its inhabitants. The projects, financed through the Participatory Budget and with the support of the Dominican Municipal League, represent a significant step in improving the community’s basic services.
During the launch event, which was attended by members of the City Council’s technical team and the engineers responsible for the various projects, 30% of the budget allocated to each contractor was handed over. This measure seeks to guarantee the immediate and smooth start of the works, which have been divided into four lots to ensure efficient coverage in various sectors of the district.

Investment details and project scope
The total investment for these interventions exceeds RD$6 million, funds destined to transform the road and pedestrian infrastructure of the district. Among the scheduled works are:
- Construction of sidewalks and curbs at strategic points.
- Execution of speed bumps to improve rainwater drainage.
- Construction of box culverts to facilitate local traffic.
Municipal strengthening at the national level
These actions in Juma Bejucal are part of the national strategy to support local governments promoted by the Dominican Municipal League. Through technical assistance and financing programs, the organization seeks to strengthen the capacity of city councils to manage critical projects, such as markets, cemeteries, funeral homes, and the improvement of public spaces.
With the specialized accompaniment of the Undersecretariat of Municipal Support, local governments receive support in topographical studies, designs, and budgets, ensuring that each project meets the necessary technical standards. This management model has allowed hundreds of city councils and district boards across the country to execute high-impact infrastructure, thus consolidating a more robust municipal development system that is closer to the people.
