Joel Soriano consolidates himself as the key piece for Obradoiro in the Liga Endesa
Dominican center Joel Soriano is going through a sweet moment in Spanish basketball. Following his recent addition to Obradoiro, the interior player has shown why he is considered the fundamental pillar of the team in its fight to stand out in the top division, leaving behind his adaptation phase to become a dominant player.
His most recent performance this Sunday against Lleida was the perfect stage to showcase his potential. With a record of 22 points, 9 rebounds, and one assist, Soriano reached a valuation of 25 credits, establishing himself as the most decisive player on the court and confirming the trust placed in him by coach Diego Epifanio.
A rising trajectory
Soriano’s path in Spain has been one of constant growth. After his debut in the 2024-2025 season with Valencia Basket, where he had a secondary role under the guidance of Pedro Martínez, the player sought new opportunities to prove his worth. His time at Casademont Zaragoza and a brief experience in the German Bundesliga with Ratiopharm Ulm served as a platform for him to reach the competitive maturity he now displays in Santiago.
Statistics that support your impact
The numbers do not lie and reflect the leap in quality that the Dominican has made since his arrival at Obradoiro. Under Epifanio’s direction, Soriano has doubled his previous records, becoming the player with the highest valuation on the entire roster:
- Average rating: 20.7 credits per game.
- Minutes played: Almost 25 minutes on average.
- Offensive production: 16.7 points and 7 rebounds per game.
- Effectiveness: Over 65% from the field (two-pointers) and a solid 80% from the free-throw line.
The coaching staff’s trust has been vital. Joel Soriano is not only a threat in the paint, but he also provides balance with his rebounding ability and his accuracy in free throws, becoming the undisputed reference for Obradoiro this season.
With this performance, the Dominican international is shaping up to be one of the names to watch for the rest of the campaign in the Liga Endesa, reaffirming that his adaptation to Spanish basketball is an absolute success for his team’s aspirations.
