ITLA, Conacado and Coopnacado seal alliance to revolutionize cocoa production with technology

The Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) has formalized a strategic alliance with the National Coordinator of Dominican Cacao Producers (Conacado) and the Savings, Credit, and Multiple Services Cooperative by Conacado Districts (Coopnacado). The main objective of this agreement is to promote digital transformation, innovation, and technological development within the cacao sector of the Dominican Republic.

The signing of the agreement, held at the ITLA main headquarters, was led by the institution’s rector, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, together with Isidoro de la Rosa Ogando, executive director of Conacado, and Franklin Gómez Burdier, president of Coopnacado.

Training and process modernization

The collaboration includes technical training for 250 Conacado employees, as well as the design of intelligent systems and specialized applications. These tools seek to optimize production processes, improve cocoa traceability, and raise quality standards to meet the demands of international markets.

With this alliance, ITLA will contribute to bringing technological solutions to the cocoa sector, from training its human talent to modernizing its processes. We will work in key areas such as tokenization, blockchain technology, agricultural automation, and improvement in export systems.

A strategic leap towards competitiveness

Representatives from Conacado and Coopnacado underscored that technology is a fundamental pillar for facing the current challenges of the sector. Isidoro de la Rosa Ogando emphasized that digitalization is vital for quality control, while Franklin Gómez Burdier described this step as a necessary turning point to strengthen the productive capacity of Dominican cocoa farmers.

  • Continuous training: Academic programs, specializations, and internships for staff and students.
  • Applied innovation: Development of advanced mechatronics equipment and intelligent systems for crop monitoring.
  • Testing infrastructure: Conacado will provide its farms to validate the technological solutions developed by ITLA.
  • Financing: Coopnacado will support the acquisition of new technologies for local producers.

With this union, the three entities seek to position Dominican cocoa as a benchmark for efficiency, using artificial intelligence tools and digital transformation to guarantee sustainable growth for the country’s producers.
