Weather forecast: Tropical wave and trough will bring rain this Tuesday
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a report on weather conditions for this Tuesday, warning of the incidence of downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts across much of the national territory. This phenomenon is caused by the approach of a new tropical wave, which is interacting with an upper-level trough and the local effects typical of our geography.
From the early hours of the morning, passing showers are expected in the northeast areas and the Caribbean coast, driven by the prevailing east wind. However, the outlook will change later in the afternoon, when rainfall activity intensifies significantly.
Provinces under rain alert
The heaviest rainfall is expected to affect the following provinces during the afternoon and evening:
- La Altagracia, Hato Mayor and Monte Plata.
- San Cristóbal, Duarte, Monseñor Nouel and La Vega.
- Santiago, Sánchez Ramírez, San José de Ocoa and San Juan.
- Elías Piña, Azua and Greater Santo Domingo.
In the National District, residents should be prepared for increased cloudiness and thunderstorms. In North and West Santo Domingo, scattered showers are forecast, while in East Santo Domingo, downpours with electrical discharges are anticipated.
High temperatures remain a constant, with maximums that will range between 34 °C and 36 °C. We recommend that the population stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid exposure to the sun during peak hours to prevent heatstroke.
Indomet
Meteorological surveillance in the Atlantic
Indomet is keeping two systems in the Atlantic Ocean under strict monitoring:
- Area south-southeast of Cape Verde: It has a 60% probability of cyclonic development in the next 48 hours and 70% in the next seven days.
- Area east-northeast of Bermuda: It has a 40% probability of cyclonic formation. However, authorities have confirmed that, due to its current location and trajectory, this system does not pose a danger to the Dominican Republic.
