Strategic alliance boosts modernization and financing for agricultural producers
The Institute of Cooperative Development and Credit (IDECOOP) and the Executive Directorate of Irrigation Technification (TNR) have formalized an inter-institutional cooperation agreement. The main objective of this alliance is to facilitate access for agricultural producers to competitive financing, specialized technical support, and non-reimbursable co-financing funds.
The agreement was signed by Maritza López de Ortiz, administrative president of IDECOOP, and Claudio Caamaño Vélez, director of the TNR. With this initiative, both entities seek to strengthen rural cooperativism and promote the efficient use of water resources in the Dominican countryside.

Agreement details and benefits for the sector
This collaboration focuses on the technical improvement and modernization of irrigation infrastructure, essential elements for ensuring food security and environmental sustainability. As established, the TNR will contribute its technical capacity and access to resources through the Fund for the Promotion of Irrigation System Modernization (Fotesir), while IDECOOP will act as the articulating channel with cooperatives nationwide.

Claudio Caamaño Vélez highlighted that this union is fundamental to link cooperative capital with modern infrastructure projects. For its part, IDECOOP reaffirms its commitment to supervise and promote a cooperativism that is not only financial, but also an engine of social and economic development in the country’s rural areas.
With this agreement, both institutions are preparing to launch nationwide calls, inviting cooperative organizations to join the modernization programs that seek to transform the reality of Dominican producers through efficiency and constant technical support.
