Health crisis in Samaná: Community members denounce neglect of polyclinics
Concern is growing in various sectors of the Samaná province due to the marked deterioration and operational deficiencies present in several local polyclinics. Residents have raised their voices in protest over the last few weeks, pointing out that the lack of attention to these infrastructures is seriously compromising access to primary health services in the area.
One of the points of greatest conflict is the municipal district of Arroyo Barril. Residents have reported that the local polyclinic remains closed during the weekends, a situation they consider unacceptable, as it leaves the population unprotected precisely on the days when emergencies and unforeseen medical needs usually arise.
Questions regarding local management
Faced with this problem, citizens have directed their complaints to the Samaná Area Health Management, led by Dr. Karen Núñez. The community demands explanations regarding the apparent lack of supervision and the absence of concrete responses to the precarious conditions faced by the health centers.
The population of Samaná deserves answers, but, above all, dignified, functional, and accessible health services.
Uncertainty persists among residents, who wonder what measures the Area Management is taking and who is actually overseeing the operation of these facilities. To date, the National Health Service has not offered a detailed report clarifying whether the problems stem from infrastructure deficiencies, staff shortages, or budgetary limitations.

Access to healthcare, especially in communities far from the main hospital centers, is a fundamental right that cannot be affected by poor management.
