Livestock producers from Hato Mayor and El Seibo present priority challenges to the Government
The livestock sector in the provinces of Hato Mayor and El Seibo has formalized a series of requests to the Executive Branch, seeking definitive solutions to the obstacles that limit their productivity. Among the main demands set forth by the producers are the urgent need for access to electricity, the mitigation of the effects caused by drought, the fight against cattle rustling, and the rehabilitation of farm-to-market roads.
These concerns were channeled through a consultation process led by Eric Rivero, agricultural advisor to the Executive Branch, who visited the area to assess the real impact of government projects on the Dominican countryside. The main objective of these meetings is to align public policies with the specific needs faced by those who support the dairy and meat industry in the Eastern region.
Focus on efficiency and rural development
During the work sessions, which covered seven municipalities, Luis Sánchez Falette, executive director of the National Council for the Regulation and Promotion of the Dairy Industry (Conaleche), and the senator for El Seibo, Santiago Zorrilla, were present. The authorities highlighted that the current administration prioritizes direct contact with producers to ensure that state investment is efficient.

- Commercialization: Strengthening of milk sales and distribution mechanisms, supported by projects such as Noprolac.
These meetings involved highly influential associations in the area, including producers from Hato Mayor, Guayabo Dulce, Sabana de la Mar, Mata de Palma, and the Eastern Milk Producers Association. The evaluation conducted will serve as a roadmap to adjust the Livestock Improvement Project in the Dominican Republic, ensuring that solutions effectively reach rural communities.
