Trade relationship between the Dominican Republic and France reaches record figure in 2025
The Dominican Republic has consolidated its strategic position on the international stage after recording a historic trade exchange with France, reaching 444 million euros during the year 2025. This milestone positions the Caribbean nation as the fourth most important trading partner for the European country in the entire Latin America and Caribbean region.
The French ambassador, Sonia Barbry, highlighted that this growth not only responds to an increase in the volume of operations, but also to a remarkable balance between imports and exports. This dynamism aligns with the solid Dominican economic performance, which has maintained an average annual growth close to 5% over the last 35 years.
In 2025, we reached a historic record in bilateral trade with 444 million euros, which consolidates the Dominican Republic as France’s fourth-largest trading partner in the region.

Strengthening diplomatic ties
The strengthening of this bilateral relationship has been driven by greater political closeness between both governments. The official visits made by President Luis Abinader to French soil over the last year have been decisive in boosting agreements and mutual cooperation. With the goal of diversifying economic ties, authorities are preparing for the upcoming Dominican Week in Paris, scheduled from October 17 to 22. This event, which will coincide with the SIAL Paris 2026 trade fair, will serve as a platform to finalize projects in strategic sectors, such as:
