FIFA clarifies that the venue for the 2030 World Cup final remains undefined
FIFA has stepped forward to deny recent claims regarding the venue for the 2030 World Cup final. In response to statements by Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, who asserted that the Grand Stade Hassan II in Casablanca will host the decisive match, the world football governing body has reiterated that there is still no official decision on the matter.
A FIFA spokesperson confirmed that the choice of venue for the summit match will be announced in due course, maintaining the official stance communicated last August. This clarification comes after Lekjaa’s comments during a political event, where he took it for granted that the Benslimane province would host the grand final.
The dispute for the main stage
The race to host the tournament’s final match remains competitive, with three stadiums standing out as the main candidates:
- Grand Stade Hassan II (Morocco): An ambitious project with a projected capacity of 115,000 spectators, scheduled to open in 2027.
- Camp Nou (Spain): Following its renovation process, the Barcelona venue will have an approximate capacity of 105,000 fans.
- Santiago Bernabéu (Spain): The iconic Madrid stadium, which currently has a capacity of 78,297 spectators.
Spain is the best football country today, although we emphasize that it is exclusively up to FIFA to make the final decision regarding the venue for the decisive match.

The organization of the 2030 World Cup is a shared effort between Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, while Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will host the opening matches as part of the commemoration of the centenary of the first World Cup.
