FEDA promotes agricultural modernization in Montecristi with drone technology
The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), under the direction of Hecmilio Galván, has launched an important training program called “Technology in the Field.” This initiative, developed in conjunction with the Community Technology Centers (CTC), seeks to integrate cutting-edge tools into the daily work of Dominican producers.
On this occasion, the province of Montecristi was the setting where farmers, especially from the rice sector, learned firsthand about the operation and competitive advantages of agricultural drones. The technical instruction was provided by the company FARMDRONS, who conducted practical demonstrations in the community of Los Sano, in Castañuela.
Benefits of precision agriculture
The implementation of drones in the field represents a qualitative leap towards precision agriculture. During the day, producers were able to verify how these tools facilitate more efficient crop management through the following advantages:
- Input optimization: Allows for more precise application of fertilizers and fumigation products.
- Real-time monitoring: Facilitates constant supervision of crop status and early detection of pests or specific needs.
- Resource savings: Significantly reduces the consumption of water, fuel, and agricultural products, optimizing operational time.

The event featured the participation of representatives from FEDA, including Pablo Ramos, administrative manager, and Eduardo Fernández, provincial manager of Valverde. Both officials highlighted that the organization maintains a firm commitment to the modernization of the countryside, bringing technological innovation directly to productive communities.
