Estrellas Orientales fine-tune details for the 2026-27 LIDOM season
The Estrellas Orientales management has made official its preparation calendar for the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), which is scheduled to begin on October 16. The green team is preparing to seek the championship with a defined work structure.
Training schedule
The road to the crown begins on September 14th with a specialized mini-camp. This first phase of training will take place at the Detroit Tigers complex, located in the municipality of Ramón Santana, and will be focused primarily on the development of pitchers and catchers.
Subsequently, on September 21, the organization will open its doors at the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís to welcome the full roster, formally kicking off the preseason under the command of manager Héctor Borg, who takes on the challenge of leading the team in this new stage.
Luxury coaching staff
Héctor Borg will be supported by a large group of specialists in charge of enhancing every aspect of the game:
- Strategy and bench: Carlos Valderrama (bench and baserunning coach) and Carlos Paulino (manager’s assistant).
- Pitching: Jairo Cuevas (pitching coach), Alex Concepción (assistant) and Robelin Bautista (bullpen coach).
- Offense: René Rojas (hitting coach), Rafael Peña (hitting strategy) and the support team consisting of Land Carrero and Javier Roa.
- Defense and coordination: Erick Salcedo (infield), Oscar Bernard (strategic coordination), Claudio Almonte (first base and outfielders) and Ángel Rosario (third base).
Confirmed imported players
The Estrellas have opted for continuity and knowledge of the circuit by confirming the return of two key pieces among their imports:
Outfielder Ismael Munguía, who dominated the league with a .368 batting average last season, along with pitcher Patrick Weigel, a key piece in the bullpen over the last two years, lead the list of confirmed reinforcements to date.
