Estrellas Orientales fine-tune details for the 2026-27 LIDOM season
The Estrellas Orientales team has made official its preparation schedule ahead of the upcoming Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) season, which is scheduled to begin on October 16. The green organization is looking to consolidate its roster early on to compete for the championship.
The path to the playing field will formally begin on September 14th with the opening of a mini-camp at the Detroit Tigers’ facilities, located in the Ramón Santana municipality. This first stage will be focused primarily on the physical and technical conditioning of pitchers and catchers.
Start of training with the full squad
After the initial cycle, the Estrellas will move their operations to the Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro de Macorís. It will be on September 21st when the rest of the team joins to begin training with the full roster under the supervision of the coaching staff.
Technical staff led by Héctor Borg
The team’s management will be in charge of Héctor Borg, who takes on the challenge of leading the Orientales in his debut at the helm of the club. Borg will have a large group of specialized collaborators for each area of the game:
- Strategy and bench: Carlos Valderrama (bench and base running coach) and Carlos Paulino (manager’s assistant).
- Pitching: Jairo Cuevas (pitching coach), supported by Alex Concepción and Robelin Bautista in the bullpen.
- Offense: René Rojas (hitting coach), Rafael Peña (hitting strategy), Land Carrero and Javier Roa (assistants and Parallel League).
- Defense and technique: Erick Salcedo (infield), Claudio Almonte (first base and outfielders), Ángel Rosario (third base) and Oscar Bernard (game plan).
Confirmed reinforcements
The management of the greens has confirmed the return of two key pieces who already know the demands of the Dominican league. Outfielder Ismael Munguía, who stood out last season by recording a .368 batting average, returns to contribute his offense. Likewise, reliever Patrick Weigel, who has established himself as one of the most reliable arms in the bullpen in recent years, will also be part of the team.
With the start of training camp getting closer, the Estrellas are advancing in the preparation of their roster to face a new season of Dominican professional baseball.
