Commotion in San Sebastian: 14 minors identified as victims of sexual assault
A case of great social impact shakes the city of San Sebastián, Spain, after it was revealed that the authorities have managed to identify 14 minors who were victims of sexual assault. The main suspect in these crimes is a 22-year-old man, who operated a candy store in the Amara neighborhood.
Chronology of investigations
The judicial process began at the end of June, when the Ertzaintza received reports about a minor who had allegedly been the victim of two sexual assaults on the 25th and 26th of that month inside the store. Thanks to a rapid police intervention, the suspect was arrested on June 30th and, after being presented before a judge, his provisional imprisonment was ordered, where he remains detained while the proceedings advance.
As the investigation, led by the Central Criminal Investigation Section (SECIC), delved deeper into the detainee’s environment, new testimonies and complaints emerged that connected the case to similar events that have occurred since 2020. This has allowed the scope of the investigation to be expanded to a six-year period.
Case details
- Victims: 14 minors have been accounted for, whose ages ranged between 10 and 18 years old at the time of the incidents.
- Modus operandi: Investigators have detected common patterns in the way the assaults were committed.
- Scope: The proceedings include a case dating back to when the suspect himself was a minor, a file that has already been transferred to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigation remains open and the authorities maintain an active call to the public for anyone who has been affected by similar situations to come forward to the competent authorities to formalize their complaint.
Call for citizen collaboration
Due to the serial nature of the crimes under investigation, the Basque Police have requested the support of the community. Authorities urge potential victims, even of incidents that occurred years ago, to break their silence and communicate through the 112 emergency number or go to any nearby police station.
Alofoke Deportes’ commitment is to keep the audience informed about the development of this case, which remains under strict judicial observation, while agents continue to analyze the evidence gathered to clarify all the facts and ensure that justice is served for each of the identified victims.
