Elmerk Jonas promotes the Legislative Forum Plus to connect youth with the Senate
The director of Los Plus, Elmerk Jonas, held an important meeting at the Senate of the Republic with legislators Franklin Romero, representative of the Duarte province, and Santiago Zorrilla, for El Seibo. The central objective of the meeting was to analyze the current challenges facing the different regions of the country and to underscore the need to integrate the youth perspective into the national development agenda.
During the day, Jonas formally presented the initiative for the first Legislative Forum Plus. This project seeks to establish a direct bridge of communication between the National Congress and the citizenry, creating a space for exchange where young people, entrepreneurs, professionals, and various social sectors can engage in dialogue with those responsible for creating the country’s laws.
A space for dialogue and proposals
The director of Los Plus emphasized that the platform will serve to channel citizens’ concerns and gather real proposals from the provinces. It is projected that the forum will feature the participation of at least eight senators from various districts, highlighting a special interest in bringing this democratic exercise to the Cibao region, with an emphasis on La Vega, so that the population can better understand senatorial management.
Young people who believe in development must create spaces where we can listen, propose, and approach those who have the responsibility to legislate. We want Los Plus to also be a bridge between the citizenry and their representatives.

Next steps
Also present at the meeting were young people Bismarch Gómez and Deiby Serrano, who contributed the vision of a generation committed to the future of the Dominican Republic. The official date of the event is expected to be announced soon, which aims to be institutionalized as a plural forum to debate public policies, territorial development, and the challenges that mark the course of the Dominican provinces.
