Electric service strengthened in El Limón after interconnection change
With the goal of guaranteeing greater stability and reliability in the energy supply, the authorities completed this Friday the relocation works of the electrical interconnection in the community of El Progreso del Limón, in the province of Samaná.
Previously, this area depended on the substation located in Hoyo del Cacao, in Las Terrenas, an infrastructure that had difficulties meeting the current energy demand. From now on, El Progreso del Limón will be powered by the Santa Bárbara de Samaná substation, which has a recently installed higher-capacity transformer to strengthen the power grid for the entire region.
Strategic management for community benefit
This technical breakthrough was possible thanks to coordinated work between local authorities and the central government. The joint effort was led by the provincial governor of Samaná, Teodora Mullix, and the mayor of El Limón, Fernando Mercado Morel. Both officials served as liaisons with the presidency of the Republic to channel the needs of the residents and expedite the required technical solutions.
These actions are part of a comprehensive plan designed to optimize electrical infrastructure and respond efficiently to the needs of the Samaná communities.

- Current status: The system is in the technical testing phase before its final implementation.
- No changes to billing: It is essential to clarify to users that this adjustment is merely technical. Moving the power supply to a substation with greater capacity does not imply any increase or modification to current electricity rates.

Currently, the community remains expectant for the rigorous tests to conclude and for the system to begin operating under the new configuration, marking a significant step towards the modernization of the electrical system in the province.
