EDENORTE reinforces the electrical system in Samaná with a new high-capacity transformer
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (EDENORTE) has announced a major infrastructure project aimed at strengthening the energy supply in the province of Samaná. The initiative consists of the installation of a 37 MVA transformer at its local substation, a strategic move designed to optimize the stability and quality of electrical service throughout the area.
This new equipment arrives to replace the current 14 MVA unit, which represents a substantial increase in installed capacity, nearly tripling the available power. According to the institution, this upgrade is vital to meet the growing residential, commercial, and tourism boom in the region, allowing for a much more efficient response to current energy demand.
Impact on services and affected areas
The improvement works will directly benefit users connected to the SAMA102, SAMA103, and SAMA104 circuits. However, to ensure the safety of technical personnel and the proper execution of the work, a temporary interruption in the power supply has been scheduled.
The service interruption is scheduled for this Wednesday, between 10:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon, affecting the following areas:
- Samaná Town Center
- La Mezcla and Cacavelly
- Villas Salma and Willmore neighborhood
- El Limón and Ríos
- El Play Zone
- Hotel establishments such as Gran Bahía, Vista Mare, and Cayacoa
This upgrading is a fundamental step to reduce overload levels, ensuring that the electrical system is technically prepared for the constant development that the province of Samaná is experiencing.
