Dominican Republic aims for 500,000 Argentine tourists by the end of 2026

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, reported from the International Tourism Fair (FIT 2026) in Buenos Aires that the Dominican Republic is experiencing its most important historical moment in the Argentine market. The country’s promotion strategy has managed to consolidate a solid relationship with the local tourism sector, projecting to reach the figure of half a million Argentine visitors before the end of the year 2026.

During the event, Collado led a massive meeting with 800 travel agents at the La Rural convention center, marking a milestone in Dominican promotion in Argentina. 80% of the attending professionals, coming from Buenos Aires, were able to get updated on the new hotel investments and the diversification of destinations offered by the half-island.

We are at the right time and in the right place. The country’s growth does not stop; we are in the best moment for Dominican tourism.

Sustained growth and regional leadership

Statistics support the Ministry of Tourism’s optimism. After receiving 440,000 Argentine tourists in 2025, the country maintains an upward trend that positions it as the third most relevant source market for the Dominican Republic, surpassed only by the United States and Canada. This progress stands out when comparing current figures with the 189,000 visitors registered in 2019, before the global health crisis.

  • Diversification strategy: Success in Argentina adds to positive results in key markets such as Spain, England, France, the United States, and Canada.
  • Ambitious goal: The Ministry of Tourism reaffirmed the projection of closing the year 2026 with a historic record of 12.5 million visitors.
  • Presence at FIT 2026: The Dominican Republic is participating as a partner country in the thirtieth edition of this fair, which brings together representatives from 60 nations.

The Dominican agenda in Buenos Aires, which runs until September 29, includes the comprehensive promotion of various tourist hubs, from the well-established Punta Cana to the new developments in Miches and Pedernales, reaffirming the country’s commitment to sustainable and high-quality tourism.
