Dajabón Mayor’s Office implements drastic measures against littering in public spaces

In a decisive action to preserve urban order and hygiene, the Municipal Mayor’s Office of Dajabón carried out a cleaning and restoration operation this Monday in the Plaza Beller sector. Local authorities proceeded to remove a considerable amount of solid waste that had been improperly deposited on a sidewalk, returning it to the interior of the private property from which it was extracted.

The deployment was carried out by cleaning brigades, under the supervision of representatives from the city council and the Department of Urban Planning. According to the authorities, the waste originated from a cleaning session carried out by a citizen in their residence’s yard, who chose to place it on the public road instead of arranging for its removal through the appropriate channels.

Legal consequences and fines

Mayor Santiago Riverón confirmed that the responsible party will be formally notified in the coming hours. In addition to the administrative sanction, the citizen must face the payment of a fine established by the current municipal regulations for this type of infraction.

We urge the population to avoid these practices and keep sidewalks and other public spaces free of waste. Those who ignore the rules will be fined and could even be brought to justice.

Official channels for waste management

In light of this incident, the municipal executive called on citizens to act responsibly. Riverón emphasized that the City Council has an established protocol for residents who need to carry out deep cleaning work on their properties:

  • Communicate in advance with the Urban Planning Department.
  • Request the solid waste collection service through official channels.
  • Coordinate the arrival of a City Council truck for the proper transport of waste.

With these actions, the Dajabón City Hall reaffirms its commitment to the beautification of the municipality and the enforcement of health regulations, seeking to prevent public spaces from being used as improvised dumps.
