Cristiano Ronaldo returns to scoring and approaches the historic figure of 1,000 goals
Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo broke a 30-day goal drought this Friday, leading Al Nassr to a 3-0 victory over Al Draih on the eighth matchday of the Saudi Pro League. With this goal, the forward reached 980 goals in his professional career, leaving him just 20 goals away from reaching the historic milestone of 1,000 goals.
The team captain opened the scoring at the 22nd minute at Alawwal Park stadium in Riyadh. Ronaldo capitalized on a rebound conceded by goalkeeper Waleed Abdullah following a previous shot by Kingsley Coman, finishing with a powerful right-footed strike. This goal ends a scoring drought that had lasted since last September 9th.
Absolute support from the fans
The atmosphere in the stadium was charged with symbolism, as Al Nassr fans took advantage of the stage to show their support for the footballer following the recent tensions experienced with the Portuguese national team’s coaching staff. Before the opening whistle, a banner was unfurled with the legend “Greatness is earned,” while in the seventh minute, the crowd gave the player a standing ovation, in honor of the number that has marked his career.
Greatness is earned.

This gesture of support comes at a complex time for the striker, who recently sparked controversy after being benched during a match with his national team, which led to a preventive suspension by the Portuguese Football Federation following his public statements about the head coach.
Al Nassr returns to winning ways
In addition to Ronaldo’s goal, the victory was sealed by scores from Samú Costa and Kingsley Coman. This result is fundamental for Al Nassr, which manages to get back on track after the tough defeat suffered against Al Ain in the AFC Champions League before the international break. Currently, the Saudi club has 19 points, sharing the top of the table with Al-Qadisiya.
- Cristiano Ronaldo’s total goals: 980.
- Difference with Lionel Messi: 48 goals (980 vs 932).
- Next challenge: Al Nassr will face FK Neftchi Fergana this Monday in the continental competition.
Cristiano Ronaldo maintains his focus on the 1,000-goal objective, a goal that defines the final stage of his career and keeps him as one of the most consistent figures in world football, consolidating his lead in the statistical race against the Argentine Lionel Messi.
