Dominican Olympic Committee officializes electoral commission for its upcoming elections
The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) has taken a firm step toward its institutional renewal by formally announcing the members of the electoral commission that will be responsible for leading the process to elect the entity’s new authorities. The decision was made during the ordinary meeting held last Thursday, October 3, by the organization’s executive committee.
The election day is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 2nd, at the Juan Ulises García Saleta hall, headquarters of the COD, where the board that will lead the 2026-2030 Olympic cycle will be defined.
Members of the electoral commission
The structure responsible for ensuring transparency and the proper conduct of the voting process is composed of figures with recognized experience in the national legal and sports fields:
- Samuel Arias Arzeno: President of the commission. He is a prominent lawyer and current judge of the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, who has extensive experience leading previous electoral processes within the COD.
- Dionisio Guzmán: Member. Recognized for his work as president of the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame.
- Jorge Torres: Member. Long-time journalist and former president of the Association of Sports Chroniclers of Santo Domingo (ACD).
The formation of this work team seeks to guarantee a democratic and transparent process for the future of Olympic sport in the Dominican Republic.
As a final step for the formalization of this process, the electoral commission must be ratified by the ordinary general assembly. Said meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday, October 16, also at the facilities of the Juan Ulises García Saleta hall of the Dominican Olympic Committee.
