Dominican Olympic Committee awards medalists of the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games

In an act filled with sporting pride, the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) paid a well-deserved tribute to the athletes, coaches, and physiotherapists who shone during the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. The ceremony, held in the Restoration Hall of the Ministry of Defense, served as a stage to recognize the effort and dedication of those who held the tricolor flag high.

During the luncheon-reception, a total financial grant of two million four hundred thousand pesos was awarded, which was distributed among 96 honorees, with each receiving an incentive of 25 thousand pesos as a token of gratitude for their outstanding performance in the regional competition.

A recognition of sports commitment

Engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the COD, led the delivery and highlighted the importance of valuing the work of Dominican athletes, especially after the success of competing on home soil.

This is a recognition of the work done by you in the past Central American and Caribbean Games. We feel honored by what you did to represent us at home. Thank you for your attendance, as you are our main asset.

Bautista took the opportunity to thank the Ministry of Defense for providing its facilities for this meeting, which allowed athletes and leaders from various federations to share a moment of camaraderie.

  • Festive atmosphere: The Fragata Musical orchestra of the Dominican Republic Navy enlivened the day, engaging those present with a musical repertoire that celebrated the sporting success.
  • Authorities present: The event featured the participation of Irina Pérez, Miguel Rivera, José Mera, Jorge Blas Díaz, and Dulce María Piña, members of the COD executive committee.
  • Official representation: Key figures also attended, such as Major General Delio Colón, Deputy Minister of Defense, and Franklin De la Mota, Deputy Minister of Sports.

This recognition reaffirms Alofoke Deportes’ commitment to following and valuing the achievements that continue to strengthen the sports ecosystem of the Dominican Republic.
