Three months of preventive prison ordered for man for robbing and threatening his mother in Azua
The Permanent Attention Court of Azua has ordered three months of preventive detention against Delvinson Matos Ramírez, after being accused of committing acts of robbery and constant threats against his mother, a 76-year-old woman residing in the El Barro municipal district.
The judicial decision, made by Judge Dania Abreu, establishes that the defendant must serve the coercive measure at the 19 de Marzo public jail. The request was presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which managed to demonstrate the individual’s dangerousness and the lack of ties that would guarantee his presence in the subsequent stages of the criminal process.
Case details
According to the investigation led by prosecutor Nelia Melo Mejía, head of the Gender and Domestic Violence Unit of the Azua Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant repeatedly entered his mother’s home, taking advantage of her absences to break the locks and steal various items.
- Theft of household goods, including fans, sheets, pillows, and kitchen utensils.
- Theft of cash from the small business of a popsicle seller, which represents the victim’s primary source of income.
- Constant harassment and threats against the integrity of the elderly woman.
The victim reported to the authorities that her son was constantly stalking her, using force to enter her property whenever she was away, stripping her of her personal belongings and her means of subsistence.
