Authorities intensify seismic vulnerability assessments in the National District
The structural inspection program has moved to the Piantini sector, in the National District, as part of a preventive strategy to identify potential vulnerabilities in buildings in the event of a seismic event. This work seeks to collect precise technical data that will allow owners, residents, and the private sector to implement the necessary reinforcement measures to guarantee public safety.
These field actions provide continuity to the operations recently carried out in the Naco sector, where authorities reported a total of 1,089 buildings successfully evaluated. The deployment is part of a national plan that aims to gradually extend to different areas of the Dominican Republic.
High citizen demand for structural safety
The public’s interest in knowing the actual state of their properties has experienced notable growth. According to official data, there are currently more than 2,000 requests pending attention, which reflects a greater awareness of the importance of infrastructure prevention.
The objective of the surveys is to identify potential weaknesses and offer information that allows owners, residents, and private entities to take preventive measures.
To facilitate this process, the responsible body has enabled a channel for both individuals and private entities to request a technical evaluation of their properties.
