Amazon updates its Kindle family with design improvements and greater efficiency
Amazon has taken a step forward in its line of e-readers, introducing significant updates across its entire Kindle range. The new models, which include the basic Kindle, the Paperwhite, and the innovative Colorsoft, arrive with a more streamlined design, now being a millimeter thinner, and a notable improvement in performance, achieving 30% faster book opening.
Among the most notable ergonomic adjustments, the company has relocated the power button. Previously located on the bottom edge, it is now found on the right side, near the top, making it easier to access while reading.
New material and color options
Aesthetics also receive special attention. For the first time, Amazon introduces an aluminum casing, a premium option that joins the traditional soft-touch plastic. Additionally, Kindle Vice President Kevin Keith has confirmed that all new devices feature user-replaceable batteries, complying with recent European Union regulations.
The base model, available in colors such as ube purple and graphite, features a significant visual improvement: the transition between the frame and the screen is now uniform, eliminating the recessed screen design of previous generations.
- Basic Kindle: 16 GB of storage for $149.99.
- Aluminum Edition: 32 GB of storage and ad-free for $189.99.
Evolution in the Paperwhite and the Colorsoft
Although the screen specifications remain consistent, the Paperwhite and Colorsoft models now feature colors that cover the entire device. This technical decision, which includes a black layer on the edges of the panel, prevents light leaks and color reflections on the screen. Both models will be available starting October 28.
The new Signature editions of the Paperwhite and Colorsoft introduce pogo pins on the back, allowing for the use of magnetic covers with physical page-turn buttons, evoking the classic experience of previous models.
Kindle Click: Wireless navigation
To complement the experience, Amazon introduced the Kindle Click, a $34.99 Bluetooth remote control. This device allows you to turn pages and adjust screen brightness without touching the reader. It is lightweight, includes a safety strap, and charges via USB-C, being compatible with all models released from 2024 onwards.
With these releases, Alofoke Deportes highlights Amazon’s commitment to maintaining its leadership in the digital reading market, offering options for both casual users and those seeking a premium experience with specialized accessories.
