The ADP calls for a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Education due to teacher demands
The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) has issued a formal call for a demonstration to take place next Wednesday, October 7th. The gathering, scheduled for 9:00 a.m., will be held in front of the main headquarters of the Ministry of Education, located on Máximo Gómez Avenue, with the goal of demanding definitive solutions to various issues affecting the teaching profession.
According to the union leadership, this mobilization will have the support of provincial branches and will feature coordinators and educators who are part of the induction program, who seek to make visible the deficiencies in the administrative and evaluation processes.
Main demands of the teaching profession
The list of demands presented by the ADP is extensive and covers critical issues that directly impact the stability and well-being of teachers. Among the most prominent points are:
- Lack of response to teachers who requested a review of their grades in the Performance Evaluation.
- Significant delays in the payment of pending retroactive resources for hundreds of educators.
- Administrative inconsistencies and errors in the double-session assignment process.
- Serious deficiencies in the infrastructure of various educational centers, a situation that has forced the suspension of teaching in several locations.
The union emphasizes the urgency of streamlining the economic incentive processes derived from the evaluation and resolving the files that still remain unanswered by the educational authorities.
Evaluation process balance
Regarding the figures from the latest evaluation process, the ADP detailed that more than 122,000 teachers participated. Of this total, nearly 111,000 completed the tests satisfactorily, while approximately 10,000 were selected for a second stage. The current conflict centers on the more than 3,500 claims that have yet to receive a verdict, keeping a significant portion of the national teaching staff in uncertainty.
