Adonis Medina shines on the mound during the Tigres del Licey debut
Pitcher Adonis Medina had a memorable season debut by leading the Tigres del Licey to a resounding 12-2 victory over the Leones del Escogido from the mound. In the opening game of the autumn-winter baseball tournament, the right-hander displayed absolute dominance by completing five innings of work, during which he managed to strike out nine batters.
After finishing the commitment, Medina expressed his gratitude for the responsibility granted by being chosen as the starter for the first game of the campaign, news he received with serenity after concluding his participation in Mexican baseball.
A wonderful day, I always thank God for this opportunity. It is always an honor. I always come trusting in my secondary pitches. I always try to command my pitches, because when you command them, your pitches are good.

Keys to success: Strategy and technical adjustments
The pitcher highlighted that much of his success against the Escogido lineup lay in the effectiveness of his secondary pitches, especially the sinker, a tool with which he achieved six of his nine strikeouts. According to Medina, confidence in his repertoire is the result of constant preparation and specific adjustments to his pitching mechanics made together with the team’s coaching staff.
- Communication with the catcher: Medina emphasized that maintaining a constant connection with his catcher is vital to stay focused and execute the game plan established for each at-bat.
- Winning mentality: The pitcher prioritizes attacking the strike zone and minimizing external pressures, fully trusting the work done during daily training.
- Mechanical adjustments: The support of coaches Chávez and Casadiego has been fundamental in the evolution of his career, allowing him greater confidence on the mound.
With this solid performance, Medina not only contributed to the overwhelming triumph of the blue team, but also sent a positive message about his aspirations for the current winter season. His ability to maintain focus and execute with precision positions him as a key piece within the Tigres del Licey rotation, consolidating the expectations of success for the capital team in the tournament.
