A year of social impact: Banreservas Volunteering strengthens its commitment to Dominican communities
The Banreservas Volunteering program has consolidated a transformative first year of management under the leadership of Dr. Carmen Alicia Quijano de Aguilera. Since assuming the presidency in August 2025, the entity has deployed an ambitious agenda focused on health, education, environmental preservation, and direct support for families in vulnerable situations, achieving significant reach across various points of the national geography.
This stage, which coincides with the tenure of Dr. Leonardo Aguilera at the helm of the Executive Presidency of Banco de Reservas, has been characterized by greater closeness with the institution’s employees and their families, as well as with the most needy sectors of the country.
Outstanding achievements in sustainability and education
One of the most significant milestones has been the operational expansion with the opening of a headquarters in Santiago de los Caballeros, designed specifically to meet the demands of the Northern region. Among its flagship programs, the plastic-for-food exchange initiative stands out, which has managed to recover nearly 70,000 pounds of recyclable material, benefiting more than 2,000 families with essential basic food basket products.
Educational commitment has also been a priority, highlighting the “Recycle your Notebook” program. This initiative has distributed a total of 37,100 school supplies between 2025 and 2026, benefiting 3,631 families. Furthermore, through the “Reserves of the Future” program, strategic alliances were established with the University of La Romana (UNIROMANA) to provide scholarships to outstanding students in the field of Gastronomy.

Preventive health and humanitarian assistance
Leveraging her medical background, Dr. Quijano de Aguilera has promoted the “It’s Time to Prevent” campaign. Through this strategy, massive medical operations have been carried out in provinces such as Puerto Plata, Montecristi, San Cristóbal, and Santo Domingo, offering sonography services, specialized consultations, and influenza vaccinations, including a significant donation of 2,177 doses to the National Health Service.
- Immediate assistance: Rapid response to climate emergencies in vulnerable sectors.
- Reforestation: Environmental initiatives carried out in key locations such as Navarrete and Villa Altagracia.
- Integral well-being: Execution of summer camps such as “Sembrando Valores” (Sowing Values) for employees’ children.
Taking stock of this first year, the president of the Volunteer Corps highlighted the value of teamwork and the collaboration of the volunteers. With a clear vision for the future, the organization reaffirms its commitment to continue being a pillar of well-being, hope, and constant support for Dominican families.
