Santiago strengthens its educational infrastructure with two new high schools
The educational community of Santiago celebrates the opening of two modern school centers that will transform teaching in the towns of El Caimito and El Guano. With a total investment of 178 million pesos, President Luis Abinader delivered these facilities that will directly benefit 525 students, putting an end to years of waiting and precarious conditions in the school environment.
The Dominga Avelina Pérez High School, in El Caimito, and the El Guano High School, represent a significant advancement for public education in the region. These projects, executed through the School Infrastructure Directorate, seek to offer dignified and adequate spaces for the academic development of young people, who previously faced space limitations while receiving instruction in facilities not designed for the secondary level.
Details of the new facilities
- Dominga Avelina Pérez High School (El Caimito): With an investment of over 83.5 million pesos, it has seven classrooms for 245 students, following a 14-year wait by the community.
- El Guano High School: Built with a budget of 94.5 million pesos, it features eight classrooms with the capacity to accommodate 280 students.
This center is a dream come true and a space that opens new perspectives for the inhabitants of this community.

Comprehensive learning facilities
Beyond the classrooms, the new facilities were designed under modern standards to foster comprehensive learning. The structures include administrative areas, faculty lounges, a nurse’s office, libraries, computer labs, and specialized laboratories for Biology and Chemistry. Likewise, students will have access to sports courts, civic plazas, and green areas, which are key elements for recreation and healthy leisure.
During the delivery, the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, stressed that the strengthening of the educational system is a constant effort. The official urged the youth to value these new opportunities, keeping curiosity and perseverance alive in their academic training.
The inaugural event was attended by prominent provincial authorities, including the Governor of Santiago, Rosa Santos, and Senator Daniel Rivera, who reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to the educational development of the province.
