Pedro Martínez and the Government inaugurate modern educational and sports complex in Manoguayabo

The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, led the official handover of the Pedro Martínez Educational and Sports Complex, located in Manoguayabo, Santo Domingo West. This impressive project, the result of a strategic alliance between the Dominican State and the Pedro Martínez Foundation, required an investment exceeding RD$950 million, marking a milestone for the integral development of the youth in the area.

Top-tier facilities for comprehensive development

The complex has been designed to merge academic excellence with high-performance athletic training. The school facilities include the Paulino Jaime Abreu Basic School, equipped with 27 classrooms, and the José Cheché Abreu Vargas Polytechnic, which has 24 classrooms. Both centers feature essential services such as dining halls, libraries, state-of-the-art computer labs, and administrative areas.

In the sports field, the infrastructure stands out for offering:

  • A modern baseball stadium.
  • Two multi-sport courts.
  • Equipped gym.
  • Athletic track.
  • Museum dedicated to the career of Pedro Martínez.

A commitment to technical education and sports

Óscar Amargós, Vice Minister of Supervision and Educational Quality Control, emphasized that the polytechnic will be key to the future of young people. The center will offer specialized technical programs in electronics, animation, and physical-sports preparation, with the goal of training not only athletes, but also coaches and professionals qualified for the labor market.

This can be an example to follow. Pedro, today it is not you who has to give thanks. It is I, as president, on behalf of the Government, who has to thank you all.

Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic

During the event, the president recalled how the project was presented by Pedro Martínez and his wife, Carolina Cruz, at the beginning of his administration. Abinader described the work as a model of public-private cooperation that seeks to be replicated in other provinces of the country, reaffirming his commitment to the creation of spaces that foster values and provide new opportunities to the new generations.

The president concluded his speech by acknowledging the work of the Cooperstown Hall of Fame, which he referred to as a fundamental guide for Dominican youth, highlighting its active commitment to the academic and athletic training of the students who will be part of this new complex.
