Blow to international drug trafficking: 321 packages of cocaine seized at the Caucedo Multimodal Port
In a strategic operation executed by the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and the Public Ministry, 321 packages of a substance, presumably cocaine, were seized at the facilities of the Caucedo Multimodal Port, located in Boca Chica.
The discovery was made after a thorough inspection of a container transporting wooden boards. According to official reports, the cargo originated in Peru and its final destination was Germany. Authorities detected structural irregularities in the base of the container, which prompted a review operation that lasted for more than 12 hours until the illicit cargo was found.
Investigation into similarities in the modus operandi
The authorities have placed special emphasis on the connection of this event with another seizure recorded last week at the same port terminal, where 303 blocks were seized using an identical concealment method: hidden between the floor bars of the container.
The Public Ministry and intelligence agencies keep an investigation open to determine if both cases are related and to identify the members of the alleged international drug trafficking network.
