DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The visibly emotional young prodigy Connor Zilisch shared his feelings after a momentous announcement at Daytona International Speedway. With tears in his eyes, 19-year-old Zilisch revealed that he will compete in the NASCAR Cup in 2026. The news, although expected, marks a milestone in his rising career.

A Multi-Year Contract with Trackhouse Racing

Trackhouse Racing owner Justin Marks confirmed that Zilisch has signed a multi-year contract to drive full-time next year. Zilisch will take Daniel Suárez’s place in a Chevrolet yet to be numbered, joining Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen on Marks’ three-car team.

I never thought I would get anywhere in racing. My parents have supported me from day one, in every moment, the good and the bad.

Zilisch recalled his beginnings, highlighting the unconditional support of his parents and the challenges he faced to pursue his dream in motorsports. Since childhood, Zilisch has demonstrated his talent in various categories. His record includes victories in the 2024 Rolex 24 and the 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as successes in ARCA and the NASCAR Truck Series. Currently, he leads the Xfinity Series standings, accumulating eight wins in 27 races and an impressive streak of 12 consecutive top-five finishes. Zilisch, who recovered from a recently suffered collarbone fracture, has demonstrated his resilience and determination on the track. Justin Marks praised Zilisch’s exceptional talent, highlighting his rapid adaptation and maturity.

Connor is a rare talent that comes along every few decades. I’ve watched him grow from a kid running karts to seeing him beat us all in Trans Am racing a few years ago. He adapted quickly to everything we’ve thrown at him, and what he’s doing with JR Motorsports in Xfinity this season is historic.

Marks anticipates announcing Zilisch’s car number, sponsorship, crew chief, and crew lineup in the coming weeks.
