Connor Zilisch Misses Texas Race Due to Injury
The 18-year-old driver, Connor Zilisch, who already has two victories in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, will not participate in Saturday’s race in Texas due to injuries to his lower back. These injuries were the result of a last-lap accident at Talladega.
Trackhouse Racing announced on Wednesday that its development driver will return to the wheel of JR Motorsports’ No. 88 Chevrolet as soon as possible. The team did not provide additional details about Zilisch’s injuries.
Kyle Larson, a regular Cup Series driver, will be the one driving the No. 88 in Texas. After this race, the Xfinity Series will have a two-week break before returning to compete on May 24 in Charlotte.
Zilisch, who was in sixth position in the general classification after the first 11 races, was competing for the victory at Talladega Superspeedway when contact on the backstretch caused his car to spin and hit the inside wall.
Zilisch achieved his first Xfinity victory at Watkins Glen on September 14th. In addition, he added another victory this year in Austin, the same weekend he debuted in the Cup Series. In his 15 Xfinity races, he has achieved six top-ten finishes.
