Shane van Gisbergen Secures His Future with Trackhouse Racing
Pilot Shane van Gisbergen has signed a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing, solidifying his position in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team announced on Friday that the Auckland, New Zealand native will continue competing “for many more years.” The specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Van Gisbergen, who secured a place in the 2025 playoffs, has achieved impressive victories from the pole position in Mexico City, Chicago, and Sonoma Raceway. After winning three championships in Australia’s Supercars series, van Gisbergen was recruited by Trackhouse two years ago as part of its Project 91 program, designed to highlight international drivers in NASCAR’s premier series. In the inaugural Chicago Street Race in July 2023, van Gisbergen made history by becoming the first driver to win in their Cup debut since Johnny Rutherford in 1963. Van Gisbergen, who joined NASCAR last year, also participated in the Xfinity Series playoffs, achieving two victories for Kaulig Racing. This year, he competes in the Cup with Trackhouse in the No. 88 Chevrolet and has become the foreign-born driver with the most wins in NASCAR history. In Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen will look to join Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers with four consecutive wins on road or street courses.I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home.

Ross Chastain, driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet, and van Gisbergen are under contract for 2026. However, Trackhouse has not yet announced who will drive its third car, as Daniel Suárez will leave the No. 99 Chevrolet after the season. Connor Zilisch, Xfinity Series points leader with five wins for JR Motorsports, will make his fourth Cup appearance on Sunday for Trackhouse Racing and has been mentioned as a strong candidate to take over Suárez’s seat.We are witnessing one of the superstars of racing. What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty. He has moved to the other side of the world, learned a new way of racing, and sometimes dominated the competition. He is one of the greatest.
