Shane van Gisbergen Secures His Future with Trackhouse Racing
Pilot Shane van Gisbergen, after qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs in his debut season, has signed a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing. The team announced on Friday that the Auckland, New Zealand native will continue with them “for years to come.” Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed. With wins from the pole position in Mexico City, Chicago, and Sonoma Raceway, van Gisbergen has secured fourth place in the 2025 playoffs, with three races remaining in the regular season.After winning three championships in the Australian Supercars series, van Gisbergen was hired by Trackhouse two years ago as part of its Project 91 program, designed to showcase international drivers in NASCAR’s premier series. In the first Chicago street race in July 2023, van Gisbergen became the first driver to win in his Cup debut since Johnny Rutherford in 1963. Van Gisbergen moved to NASCAR last year and reached the Xfinity Series playoffs with two wins for Kaulig Racing. This year, he moved up to the Cup with Trackhouse in the No. 88 Chevrolet and became the foreign-born driver with the most wins in NASCAR history. In Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen will seek to join Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers with four consecutive wins on road or street circuits.I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home.
