Shane van Gisbergen Extends His Stay with Trackhouse Racing
CONCORD, N.C. – Shane van Gisbergen, after qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs in his rookie season, has secured a multi-year contract extension with Trackhouse Racing. The team announced on Friday that the driver from Auckland, New Zealand, will continue “for the next few years.” No further details about the terms of the agreement were revealed. With victories from the pole position in Mexico City, Chicago, and Sonoma Raceway, van Gisbergen has positioned himself as the fourth seed for the 2025 playoffs, with three races remaining in the regular season. After winning three championships in Australia’s Supercars series, van Gisbergen was hired by Trackhouse two years ago as part of its Project 91 program, designed to showcase international drivers in NASCAR’s premier series. In the inaugural Chicago Street Race in July 2023, van Gisbergen became the first driver to win in his Cup debut since Johnny Rutherford in 1963. Van Gisbergen moved to NASCAR last year and reached the Xfinity Series playoffs with two wins for Kaulig Racing. This year, he moved up to the Cup with Trackhouse in the No. 88 Chevrolet and became the foreign-born driver with the most wins in NASCAR history. In Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen International, van Gisbergen will look to join Chase Elliott and Jeff Gordon as the only drivers with four consecutive wins on road or street circuits.I feel like Trackhouse Racing is my home.

The driver of the No. 1 Chevy, Ross Chastain, and van Gisbergen are under contract for 2026, but Trackhouse has not yet announced who will drive its third car, as Daniel Suárez will leave the No. 99 Chevrolet after the season. Xfinity Series points leader Connor Zilisch, who has five wins for JR Motorsports, will make his fourth Cup appearance on Sunday for Trackhouse Racing and has been mentioned as a prime candidate to take over Suárez’s seat.We are witnessing one of the superstars of motorsports. What we are asking him to do carries a high degree of difficulty. He has moved to the other side of the world, learned a new way of racing, and sometimes dominated the competition. He is one of the greatest.
