Stewart Friesen Suffers Fractures After Race Accident
NASCAR Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen suffered fractures to his pelvis and leg after a serious crash during a race. Fortunately, he appears to have avoided serious head, neck, and spine injuries, according to his wife. The accident occurred on Monday night in the Super DIRTcar Series King of the North race at Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec.Jessica Friesen, the pilot’s wife, shared details about the injuries through social media. According to her post, Stewart suffered an unstable pelvic fracture, which means his pelvis broke in two or more places, in addition to a significant hematoma in the area. A fracture in the right leg was also confirmed. A CT scan revealed that there were no injuries to the head, neck, or spine. The video of the accident shows Stewart Friesen’s truck hitting an outside wall of the track, flipping in the air and starting to catch fire. After a hard impact against the track, another truck hit it before his stopped on its wheels. Jessica Friesen thanked the track team for their patience and attention in getting her husband out of the vehicle. Stewart Friesen is expected to be transferred to a hospital in New York on Wednesday, where he will undergo multiple surgeries, according to an update posted on Tuesday by Jessica. “We want to thank everyone here at the Trois-Rivières, Quebec hospital for the excellent care, and several members of the racing community who have helped facilitate Stewart being closer to home,” Jessica wrote. “The outpouring of support from our entire racing family has been overwhelming, in the best way.”Stewart was feeling a tremendous amount of pain after the accident.
