Kyle Busch Secures His Future with Richard Childress Racing

Richard Childress Racing (RCR) has confirmed the continuation of Kyle Busch for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, after exercising the extension option in the two-time series champion’s contract.

Busch, at 40 years old, is currently in the longest winless streak of his career, with a streak exceeding 70 races without crossing the checkered flag. Since joining the competition in 2003, Busch has achieved 63 victories, but his last celebration was on June 4, 2023, in St. Louis.

It’s a great place to be, a great place to work, and a great environment; there’s a lot of determination there from a lot of people [to win].

Team owner Richard Childress expressed that the organization did not meet expectations in 2024, a season in which Busch did not achieve any victories in the NASCAR Cup.

In the current season, Busch has achieved a single top-5 and is ranked 17th in the overall standings.

I think we will win a race with him this year. We have to work smarter, and that’s what we’re trying to do. We have a lot of good things going on.

Busch, known for his temper and passion on the track, has acknowledged that the winless streak has been “humiliating”.

I’m excited for the next win, whenever it may be. I feel like there are moments when it gives you that motivation and gives you that itch to get back to Victory Lane.

Childress has also expressed his desire to extend Busch’s contract long-term in the future.

Busch will compete this Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600, a race he won in 2018.
