Kyle Busch Secures His Future with Richard Childress Racing Through 2026

Richard Childress Racing has confirmed the continuation of Kyle Busch for the 2026 season, by exercising the option in the contract of the two-time Cup champion.

Busch, 40, is in the longest winless streak of his career, with almost 70 races without a victory. Since entering the series in 2003, Busch has achieved 63 victories, but has not crossed the finish line in first place since June 4, 2023, in St. Louis.

It’s a great place to be, a great place to work, and a great environment; there’s a lot of determination there from a lot of people [to win].

Team owner Richard Childress expressed that the organization feels it did not meet expectations in 2024, a season where Busch did not achieve any Cup victories.

In the current season, Busch has achieved a single top-5 and is ranked 17th in the overall standings.

I think we’ll win a race with him this year. We have to work smarter, and that’s what we’re trying to do. We have a lot of good things going on.

Richard Childress
Busch, known for his character, described the winless streak as “a bit humbling.”

I’m excited for the next win, whenever it may be. I feel like there are moments when it gives you that motivation and gives you that itch to get back to Victory Lane.

Childress expressed his hope of extending Busch’s contract long-term in the future.

Busch stated that he has not considered retirement, and that he will evaluate it when his son, Brexton, 10, is old enough to compete in the national circuit.

Busch will participate on Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600, a race he won in 2018.
